Drilling Holes

While we had the Lexan off to fit the top of the instrument panel, we also drilled the holes in the butt ribs where the windshield will be riveted.  We just lined up the holes with the rivets holding the fabric to the wing ribs.

Drilling the Lexan

When we put the Lexan back up on the airplane we peeled off enough of the covering so we could drill the holes in the windshield.  After drilling the holes, we also put some clecos in so that the Lexan would stay lined up as we pulled on it to match it up to the boot cowl up front.

Clecoed In

Turtledeck & Windshield

A back view with the clecos in place.  We also put a thin strip of Lexan between the actual windshield piece and the rear bracket which it will be riveted to.  This leaves room for the turtledeck to fit under the back of the windshield so that it does not catch air during flight.
